COMPETITOR IS NOT A FOUR LETTER WORD

Competitor is not a Four Letter Word

Why are we sometimes leery to use the word competitor?

REALTORS® are competitors.  If we weren't we would not survive in this profession.

Team members are competitors.  They join together, work together for the common good but they are competitors.  If they are first string you better believe they want to stay one step ahead of their second string competitor that is chomping at the bit to take that spot.  If you don't think so, you have never played Maxcompetitive sports.

Real Estate is a competitive sport.

  • We compete for listings
  • we compete for sales,
  • we compete for awards,
  • for rankings,
  • for our spot in the Rain,
  • we compete to showcase our listings,
  • to showcase ourselves,
  • we compete to get our listings sold,
  • and we compete to get our clients the best deal possible.

If there was only one office with a window we would probably compete for that also.  That's OK.

Competing is not a bad thing, it is how we do it, not the fact that we all do.

Our clients compete in their lives...would they really want an agent that didn't?

Some of us take competing to extremes.  Others of us are able to look at our careers as REALTORS® as one  aspect of our lives and not the one that totally defines us.  By keeping it in perspective we can be "friendly competitors" and, I believe, much better REALTORS®.

I strive to be like Max, my youngest grandson.  Why not compete with a smile and let that smile be from happiness not from oneupmanship.  Gracious winners and gracious losers are priceless.  So is Max!

Wishing you all much success and a Max in your life!
